Can you reach a house at the end of a long driveway?

Usually, yes, as long as the van can drive up to the house. My truck-mount runs from the van, and the hoses reach roughly 45 m from it. On a lifestyle block that means I need to park near the house, not at the gate on the road.

When you text for a quote, a few details help me plan:

• Whether the driveway is sealed or gravel, and if a van can turn around at the top.
• Any gates, cattle stops or tight corners on the way in.
• Which door is closest to where the van can park.
• Where the outside tap is.

If the van can't get within hose reach of the rooms, tell me early and we'll work out together whether there's a better spot to park. I'd rather sort that out by text than on the day.

What do semi-rural homes tend to need?

Yaldhurst is on the western edge of the city along Yaldhurst Road, where houses give way to paddocks, and Hei Hei is a residential suburb near Hornby and Islington. Homes here range from established houses to lifestyle properties, and the carpet often deals with more than town dirt.

Fine dust blows in on dry nor'west days. Boots, dogs and kids bring in mud and grass from outside. Entranceways and the path to the back door usually take the worst of it. What about farm dogs and indoor pets?

Dogs that live inside some of the time can leave accidents and a doggy smell in the carpet. I find hidden urine spots with a UV torch, then follow a set process with a treatment matched to the carpet fibre. A deodoriser and antimicrobial treatment are included as standard on urine jobs. Can rugs be done on the driveway?

Yes. A sealed driveway or a garage floor works well for laying rugs out, and I can also clean them on carpet or on a protected timber floor. See upholstery and rug cleaning.
