Is my older carpet worth cleaning?
Often, yes. Carpet that looks grey and tired is usually dirty rather than worn out. Soil builds up in the pile and makes the colour look flat, and a deep hot water clean can bring a lot of it back.
Cleaning won’t fix carpet that is genuinely worn out. Signs of that include:
- Bald or thin patches where you can see the backing.
- Seams that are lifting or fraying.
- Pile that is crushed flat in traffic areas and stays flat when brushed.
- Underlay that crumbles or feels lumpy underfoot.
If I see these, I’ll say so before we start, so you can decide whether a clean is worth it or you’d rather put the money towards new carpet.
What homes do I see in Hillmorton and Hoon Hay?

What about access?
Most streets are flat with driveways, which is easy. For units, the main thing is whether I can park near the right door on a shared driveway. The hoses reach roughly 45 m from the van, and I need an outside tap.

Will the grey traffic lanes come back to the original colour?
In most cases they lift a lot, because the grey is usually soil. If the pile underneath is worn or crushed, the lane may still show slightly. I’ll point that out at the walk-through.
Should I clean the carpet before selling the house?
Many people do, because clean carpet photographs and presents better. Text me the number of rooms and your listing date and I’ll fit you in when I can.
Can you clean several units on the same section in one go?
Usually, yes. Tell me how many units, the rooms in each, and whether they’re empty or occupied, and I’ll quote them together.
Is it worth cleaning carpet I plan to replace soon?
If replacement is a year or more away, a clean can make the house nicer to live in until then. If new carpet is going down in the next few weeks, it’s usually better to save your money.
