Lincoln is a Selwyn town south-west of Christchurch, home to Lincoln University and growing quickly with new subdivisions. That gives me two quite different kinds of work here: family homes on newer streets, and flats and rentals that need a clean when tenants change over.
Can you clean a student flat at the end of a lease?
Yes. Flats see a lot of foot traffic, spilled drinks and food, and the odd mark nobody owns up to. End of tenancy is the most common reason I'm asked into a Lincoln flat. If your lease finishes when the academic year does, plenty of other flats will be moving out at the same time, so get in touch early.
- One flatmate can text the address and number of rooms for the whole flat.
- Photos of stains help me quote accurately and tell you honestly what will lift.
- You get an invoice you can pass on to your landlord or property manager.
For tenancy questions, see my bond carpet cleaning guide and the end of tenancy carpet cleaning page. Your tenancy agreement and tenancy.govt.nz are the places to check what's expected. This is general information, not legal advice.
Landlords and property managers
If you look after Lincoln rentals, I can quote on single rooms, whole houses or several properties. Because I quote and clean every job myself, the person you talk to is the person who turns up. I carry $1M public liability insurance and full health and safety documentation.
Family homes on newer streets
Newer Lincoln homes mostly have synthetic carpet. It cleans up well with a pre-spray, hot water rinse and extraction, and grooming where the pile needs it. Where lanes are heavily soiled, I use CRB agitation before rinsing. Some older homes in the township may have wool carpet, which I clean with wool-safe products and extra care for the fibre. See wool carpet cleaning.
What do you need from me on the day?
A park near the entrance and an outside tap. The hoses reach about 45 metres from the van, so flats down a shared driveway or at the back of a section are usually fine. Tell me the layout when you text so there are no surprises.
Booking a Lincoln clean
Outer areas like Lincoln are covered. I group jobs by area, so mention your preferred days when you ask for a quote and I'll line you up with other jobs nearby. Your price is confirmed before work starts.
I also cover Rolleston and Prebbleton. If you're close by in Springston or Tai Tapu, ask and I'll tell you straight whether I can fit you in.
Frequently asked questions
Can flatmates split the cost of the clean?
I quote the flat as one job, and how you split it is up to you. One person texts the address and number of rooms, and the price is confirmed before work starts.
Can you get rid of a smell in a flat carpet?
Odours from spills and pet accidents can often be reduced a lot, but I won't promise complete removal. For urine I clean the area first, check it, then use a urine-specific treatment and rinse again. My pet urine guide explains more.
Does someone need to be home?
Someone needs to let me in and point out any problem spots. For an empty rental, the landlord or property manager can arrange access.
Which days do you work in Lincoln?
Jobs run Monday to Saturday. Tell me which days suit you and I'll group your clean with other jobs in the area.
Can you clean mattresses and couches in the flat as well?
Yes. Mattresses, couches and rugs can be done on the same visit. Send photos and I'll include them in the quote. See upholstery and mattress cleaning.
