Carpet Cleaning in St Albans

Yes, I clean carpets in St Albans, from older villas to newer townhouses and units. The main thing to sort out before the day is parking and access, because my hoses run from the van.

What homes do I clean in St Albans?

St Albans sits just north of the central city, and it’s a mix of old and new. You’ll find character villas and bungalows on many streets, and plenty of newer townhouses and units where older sections have been redeveloped. The two need quite different planning.

Villas and bungalows

Older homes often have wool carpet, long hallways and rooms that get little sun in winter. I use wool-safe products and don’t over-wet the carpet. See wool carpet cleaning for the details.

Townhouses and units

Newer builds usually mean stairs, smaller rooms and a shared driveway. Stairs take longer than a flat room because each step is cleaned by hand with the wand, so mention them when you ask for a quote.

Why does parking matter so much?

I use a truck-mount system, so the machine stays in the van and the hoses come inside. They reach roughly 45 m from the van, and I also need an outside tap. In St Albans that usually works well, but a few situations need a plan:

  • Rear units on a shared driveway. I may need to park in the driveway for a while, so let your neighbours know.
  • Narrow streets with cars both sides. A clear space outside your gate helps a lot.
  • Townhouses with an internal garage. Often the easiest access of all, if the garage can be opened.
  • Upstairs units with no ground-level door nearby. Tell me when you book so I can check the hoses will reach.

If the hoses can’t reach, I can offer a low-moisture clean instead. It’s a lighter clean than hot water extraction, and I’ll tell you honestly which suits your carpet.

How do stairs and hallways come up?

Hallways and stairs are where most of the soil ends up, especially by the front door. A pre-spray and hot water rinse and extraction lifts most of it. Very heavy wear on the front edge of steps sometimes improves but doesn’t fully come back. More on the process on my hot water extraction page.

Do you clean rentals in St Albans?

Yes. There are many rentals in the area, and I clean them for tenants, landlords and property managers. See end of tenancy carpet cleaning and my bond carpet cleaning guide.

Which nearby suburbs do I cover?

Edgeware, Merivale, Mairehau, Shirley, Richmond, Papanui and the central city are all close to St Albans.

Frequently asked questions

I share a driveway. Is that a problem?

Usually not. I may need to park in it for the length of the job, so it’s worth giving your neighbours a heads-up the day before.

Can you clean a two-storey townhouse?

Yes. Stairs and upstairs bedrooms are fine as long as the hoses can reach. Tell me the layout when you book.

Is it safe to clean old wool carpet in a villa?

Yes, with the right approach. I use wool-safe products and avoid over-wetting. If the carpet is very old or fragile, I’ll tell you honestly before I start.

What if I don’t have an outside tap?

An outside tap is best. If you don’t have one, tell me when you book. I can usually connect to an indoor tap with an adapter; it just takes a little more setting up.

Can I book a Saturday?

Yes. Jobs run Monday to Saturday, and you can send an enquiry on Sunday afternoon too.
