Kaiapoi is a Waimakariri town just north of the Waimakariri River, a short drive up the motorway from Christchurch. Much of the town was repaired or rebuilt after the Canterbury earthquakes, and newer subdivisions have been added since, so homes range from older houses to recent builds.
What kind of carpet do Kaiapoi homes have?
It depends on the age of the house. Newer and rebuilt homes mostly have synthetic carpet, while older homes may still have wool carpet laid years ago. Both clean well with hot water extraction, but wool needs wool-safe products and a gentler approach. See wool carpet cleaning.
My usual process is a pre-spray on soiled areas, a hot water rinse and extraction with the truck-mount, and grooming where needed. Heavy traffic lanes get CRB agitation first. You can read the full process on the hot water extraction page.
Is old carpet worth cleaning, or should I replace it?
It's often worth a clean first. Years of soil make carpet look flat and dull, and a deep hot water clean can make a real difference. It won't fix worn or frayed areas, sun-faded patches or pile crushed under heavy furniture. If you're unsure, send me photos and I'll give you an honest view before you spend money either way.
Stairs, hallways and entrances
These take the most wear in any house. Stair edges collect grit from shoes, and hallways show lanes before anywhere else. I give them extra attention with pre-spray and agitation before the hot water rinse, so they match the rest of the house as closely as the carpet allows.
Selling, renting out or moving in?
A carpet clean is often on the list before sale photos, at the end of a tenancy, or before you move into a place someone else lived in. For rentals, the end of tenancy page explains what I do, and the bond carpet cleaning guide answers the common questions.
Access, parking and booking
I need to park near an entrance with an outside tap, because the hoses reach about 45 metres from the van. Townhouses on shared driveways are usually fine; just let me know the layout.
Kaiapoi is in my service area, even though it's north of the river. I group jobs by area, so tell me your preferred days when you ask for a quote. Rangiora is covered too (see carpet cleaning in Rangiora). If you're nearby in Woodend, Pegasus or The Pines Beach, ask and I'll tell you straight whether I can fit you in.
Frequently asked questions
Do you come north of the river for small jobs?
Yes, including a single room or a few stains. Because I group jobs by area, small jobs are easiest to fit in when you can give me a choice of days.
Can you clean before we list the house for sale?
Yes. Book with some breathing room before the photographer, as drying depends on ventilation, the weather, the carpet fibre and how soiled it was. I'll give you guidance on the day. The drying guide explains what affects it.
Can you lift stains that have been there for years?
Some old stains come out and some can only be lightened. Send me a photo and I'll give you an honest idea before I start. See stain treatment.
Do you clean tiles and grout as well?
Yes. I clean tile and grout too, and it can be booked with your carpet. See tile and grout cleaning.
What if I'm not happy with part of the clean?
If something isn't right, let me know and I'll come back and take a look.
